Bronze Division Championship: Mid-Ice Crisis Survives Shootout to Steal the Crown

In one of the most dramatic conclusions of the Havoc League Fall/Winter 24/25 season, Mid-Ice Crisis edged out Ice Cav in a thrilling 3-3 (1-0 SO) victory to claim the Bronze Division championship. The game had everything: lead changes, clutch goals, a scoreless overtime, and a nail-biting shootout finish.

Mid-Ice struck first in the opening frame, with Josh Kerley finishing off a smooth setup from Steve Mitchell and Mike Kryzak. But Ice Cav responded swiftly, as Brian Easly tied things up with a well-placed shot assisted by Andrew Collazzi and Rob Alferink.

The second period saw Ice Cav surge ahead, led once again by Easly, who notched his second of the night. Matt Boden extended the lead to 3-1, capping off a great team effort. But Mid-Ice wasn’t done yet—Stephen Mitchell Jr. brought the game within one, and the pressure mounted.

Early in the third, Steve Metz knotted the game 3-3 off a crisp play involving both Mitchells, Steve and Stephen Jr., showing family chemistry that clearly translates to the ice.

The 5-minute 4-on-4 overtime featured end-to-end action and big saves from both netminders, but neither team could break through. That set the stage for a three-round shootout to decide the title.

Enter Steve Mitchell, who had already tallied two assists in regulation. With everyone’s nerves frayed and benches holding their breath, Mitchell buried the lone goal on the top shelf where grandma hides the peanut butter, securing the win for Mid-Ice Crisis and sending his team into a frenzy.

With shots tied at 28 apiece, this game was as evenly matched as they come. No penalties, no nonsense—just a battle of wills, skill, and one clutch performance under pressure.

Congratulations to Mid-Ice Crisis, your Bronze Division champions, and props to Ice Cav for an incredible fight to the finish in one of the most exciting games of the season!
