Interested in joining the HAHL? Here is a guideline that defines the level of play/skill of the players for each division. Ultimately, the goal of the league is to provide players a better experience by providing tighter skill range divisions which will lead to more competitive and balanced teams.
Silver Division: is a weeknight division consisting of advanced level players (players with AAA/AA travel experience, club college, or are stronger/faster players with strong hockey knowledge/ability)
Iron Division: is a weeknight division consisting of intermediate players (equivalent to SOL lower-Mid D2). These players are usually intermediate-strong level skaters with strong hockey knowledge and ability. Teams are composed of a majority of like-skilled players.
Steel Division: is a new division this season that is equivalent to the weeknight Iron Division, but with games on weekends (primarily Sundays) and not during the week. The majority of the players on the teams are intermediate-strong players (lower-Mid D2)
Bronze Division: is the lowest division in the league and plays on weekends (primarily Sundays). Bronze Division is not a developmental or beginner division, but consists of players of equivalent skill to SOL mid-high D3. Players in this division will have some level of hockey skill (hockey IQ or/and athletic ability) or are older (50+) players that may have lost a step but still love to compete.
The HAHL Board has the final decision on player placement in a division and reserves the right to move players to ensure a balanced, competitive division for all players. The board reserves the right to make exceptions for players on a case by case basis.
In plain words, if you can skate circles around the majority of players in a division and in the top leader in the league (much less the division) in points, then you are probably playing in a division below your level and will be moved to an appropriate division. If you are not able to keep up with the general pace of the game and cannot engage in the play and are a hazard on the ice, then you are probably playing in a division above your ability and will be moved to an appropriate division for safety reasons.
