Kraken Comeback Sinks the Jackwagons in Epic Iron Div. Finale
Well, well, well, folks. If you ever doubted the hockey gods were watching, the Iron Div. Finals put that theory to rest. In what can only be described as the most Jackwagons way to lose, the Kraken stormed back from a 4-2 deficit in the 3rd period to pull off an absolutely electric 5-4 victory, clinching the Iron Division title.
The Jackwagons, up 4-2 heading into the final frame, probably thought they had it in the bag—but that’s the beauty of playoff hockey, isn’t it? Just when you think you’re about to coast to victory, the Kraken rise up from the deep. Nate Rodriguez got the Kraken comeback rolling at 14:53, followed by Mike Aling rallying the troops with a netter at 2:50. Then, with just 1:54 left on the clock, Tyler Betz decided to shatter the Jackwagons' dreams with the game-winner.
As for the Jackwagons, their big guns, James Ellet and Caleb Walton, showed up as usual—each netting two goals and putting the Kraken on their heels early. But it wasn’t enough. Maybe someone should’ve told them this season was cursed for home teams in the playoffs. Let’s not forget the wildest stat of these playoffs: every single home team in each round got sent packing. From 8 beating 1 to 7 beating 2, the underdog vibes were strong this year, and in the final act, the Kraken—#7—sealed the deal by pulling off the final comeback of the season. I mean, you couldn’t script it better.
Congrats to the Kraken for pulling off one of the most insane finishes we’ve seen. And to the Jackwagons—hey, at least you’re not #1, right? See ya next season!
